Evie & Tom’s Wedding: Rustic Glam with a Side of Swan Rescue
Some weddings just click — the couple, the styling, the atmosphere — and Evie & Tom’s day at Willow Marsh Farm was exactly that. Beautifully personal, effortlessly stylish, and full of character (including one slightly rogue swan, but we’ll come to that).
Set against the rustic charm of the venue, the brief was "rustic glam" — and I was all in. The stationery was designed to add warmth and texture to the day without overpowering the natural setting. We used handmade burnt orange paper for the place cards, hand-lettered in walnut ink. They had a lovely raw edge and a tactile feel that really elevated the tablescapes — simple, elegant, but with a bit of grit.
One of my favourite touches was the mirror signage. There's always a bit of back and forth about whether mirrors need to be portrait, but for this one, with the long trestle tables and the layout of the barn, landscape worked beautifully. Practical and pretty!
The welcome sign sat alongside other mirrored elements throughout the space, tying everything together with just the right amount of understated shine.
We also included thoughtful touches for the remembrance table, which was styled with real care and sensitivity. I worked closely with Evie to make sure the wording felt right — it’s these details that really matter.
Tom’s a police officer, and his speech was a standout moment — all themed around "evidence", which was both hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt. One of my favourite photos from the day is of him mid-swan rescue (yes, really). If you've seen Hot Fuzz, you’ll understand why it raised a few laughs — and yes, the video did the rounds on TikTok!
The team that brought the day to life was brilliant: celebrant Kick Ass Gatherings led the ceremony, Dave Fuller Photography captured it all perfectly, and the finishing touches — from blooms by Pickleberry Flowers to a showstopper of a wedding cake by Clemie’s Vegan Cakes — pulled everything together beautifully.
It was a real pleasure to be part of this one. Thoughtful, stylish, and full of personality — the kind of wedding that reminds me why I love what I do.
