Wedding Invitation Inspiration for Your Summer 2026 Celebration
If you’re planning a summer 2026 wedding, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your stationery. Your invitations are the first glimpse your guests will have of your day setting the tone for everything that follows. From romantic venue illustrations to gold leaf detailing and torn edges, your stationery can beautifully reflect your wedding style.
Throughout this post, you’ll find plenty of images of my own designs here at Inviting Writing, created to inspire you as you plan your dream wedding stationery suite.
Personalised Venue Illustrations
A hand-drawn venue illustration adds a meaningful, personal touch to your invitations. Whether it’s a countryside estate, a chic city venue, or a marquee in your family garden, this bespoke artwork brings your story to life. Many couples choose to carry the same illustration through their on-the-day stationery, from menus to signage, for a beautifully cohesive look. Have a look at this blog post for illustrations I already have ready to go!
Gold Leaf & Luxurious Finishes
For couples who love a touch of opulence, gold leaf is an elegant way to elevate your invitations. It shimmers softly in natural light and complements both classic neutrals and bold colour palettes. Whether you choose subtle gilded edges or sweeping gold brushstrokes, it’s a detail that feels timeless and indulgent.
Torn Edges & Textured Papers
Torn edges and handmade paper bring a tactile, organic quality to your stationery. Each piece feels unique, soft, romantic and full of character.
Calligraphy Envelopes That Make an Impression
There’s something truly special about receiving an envelope adorned in elegant calligraphy. Each one is hand-addressed in flowing ink to complement your invitation suite, a gesture that instantly makes guests feel appreciated and excited for the celebrations ahead. Calligraphy envelopes also photograph beautifully and add an unmistakable air of luxury to your stationery.
Tassels, Ribbon & Finishing Touches
For couples who adore texture and movement, tassels are a gorgeous finishing detail. They come in a wide range of colours to complement your wedding palette or paired with soft ribbons for added dimension. These small embellishments transform your stationery into keepsake pieces your guests will treasure.
Shaped Place Cards & Cohesive Details
Carry your stationery design through to your wedding day with shaped place cards, menus, and signage. Whether you prefer soft organic forms or bold geometric silhouettes, shaped pieces add interest and individuality to your tablescape. I often blend watercolour brush calligraphy and layered colour palettes to create pieces that feel fluid and full of movement.
Flat Lay Inspiration
Every stationery suite deserves a moment to shine. Flat lay styling allows you to capture the textures, colours, and layers of your stationery in one cohesive image, perfect for your photographer to include in your wedding gallery. All of the flat lays you see here feature my own work, styled to inspire you as you envision your day. I invite you to have a chat with your photographer ahead of the day to see if they will do this for you.
When to Start Planning for Summer 2026
If your wedding is in summer 2026, it’s ideal to begin the design process around 9–12 months before your wedding date. This allows plenty of time for design consultations, proofs and all those lovely finishing touches like gold leaf or calligraphy envelopes.
I work closely with each couple to craft stationery that’s beautifully personal, full of colour, texture, and meaning.
