Why Now is the Time to Think About Your Customer Experience This Christmas

I’ll never forget last December - standing beneath the art deco lights of Claridge’s, pen in hand, personalising gifts for guests in one of London’s most iconic luxury spaces. It was an honour to be part of their Christmas season, offering live calligraphy inside their boutique shop.

While Claridge’s itself needs no introduction, it stood out to me how thoughtfully they created a festive experience for every customer who stepped inside. From hand-painted baubles to bespoke gift-wrapping, the entire evening was designed to delight.

And that’s something I believe all businesses, whether luxury retail, hospitality, or boutique brands, can take inspiration from. Christmas isn’t just about what you sell; it’s about how you make people feel. As someone who worked in hospitality for many years, I know exactly the difference it can make.

Creating emotional connection through personal touches such as live calligraphy, engraving, or customised packaging, helps guests feel valued, seen, and celebrated. It turns a simple purchase into an experience they’ll talk about long after the tree comes down.

At Claridge’s, I hand-lettered tags, gift boxes, and keepsakes. Even the packaging became a canvas. That kind of detail doesn’t just add beauty, it builds loyalty. Guests left with more than a gift; they took home a story.

If you’re already planning your Christmas campaign (and yes, now is the time!), I’d love to help you bring that same kind of magic to your brand. I offer live calligraphy for in-store events, festive activations, hotel gifting experiences, product launches, brand activations and more, all tailored to reflect your tone, values, and audience. Whilst I’m based in the Midlands, I offer my services throughout the country and always love a trip to our Capital - London!

So whether you’re welcoming VIPs into a flagship store or hosting an intimate festive evening for loyal clients, let’s make it memorable. Explore my calligraphy and engraving services here.
